- 3 / 5By Gloria HagenbarthI really wanted to love this place. It's been on my bucket list for years so I was excited to check it out since we were camping in Dowagiac. The place itself is beautiful, almost unchanged since it's opening in 1922. There is a "soda bar", plenty of ice cream and loads of different candies. My husband and I enjoyed the candy and soda but what really turned us off was the lack of passion the employees showed towards their products. Each time we asked about how something tasted they would respond "it's ok". I guess I just thought a candy shop would have more energetic and enthusiastic employees. People like candy stores like this because it takes them back to their childhood but this place bummed us out.July 19, 2016
